he coupling phenomenon between the guided mode and the cladding mode of the single-mode fiber is used to study the loss caused by the core diameter fluctuation of the fiber. The relationship between the loss caused by core diameter fluctuation and the number of cladding modes, correlation length and wavelength of step-index single-mode fiber is given, which provides an important basis for us to simplify the calculation of fiber loss
