Abstract

The Engineering to order (ETO) is manufacturing as per specific customer demand. ETO products have to be developed or transferred to the specification of the customer. The ETO Manufacturing method is applied in organizations for producing and developing particular customized products. In this paper, we will describe the existing ETO Conventional Process based on lean manufacturing and lead time reduction by ETO operational principles. Engineering-To-Order (ETO) organizations are numerous capacity-driven production systems in which volume planning is of major significance in the order acceptance phase. The research gap for optimization is presented by the findings from action research on the application of an optimization model to support tactical capacity planning in a medium-sized project-driven ETO organization. The selected product is the Process Tank of the pressure vessel industry, automation tool used is Autodesk Inventor with tank configurator. The explanation of the EOT process and Cloud computing requirement of implementation in a pressure vessel and its benefits are explained. Sales engineering for the custom configuration of combined and complex products is described briefly in this paper by merging engineering and sales automation. ETO Automation development creates a flexible and adaptive, demand-driven approach to the manufacturing process that speeds up delivery time for the pressure vessel industry.
