Abstract

This study will examine the influence of age on contentment experience, and job satisfaction among information technology (IT) professionals. Job embeddedness is defined as the emotional connection between the individual and their workplace, and it is hypothesized that age may play a significant role in the development of this bond. Specifically, this study will examine how older IT professionals may experience a stronger sense of job embeddedness than their younger counterparts, and how this may lead to increased levels of job satisfaction and contentment. Furthermore, this study will explore the influence of job embeddedness on job satisfaction and contentment, with an aim of understanding how age may play a role in the relationship between these two variables. Data for this study will be collected through a series of interviews and surveys of IT professionals. Results from this study will provide valuable insight into the influence of age on job embeddedness, job satisfaction, and contentment in the IT industry.

Methods

Questionnaires were distributed to 302 employees in various manufacturing sectors in and around Tamilnadu. Data were collected through a Google form link. There are two Mediator’s hypotheses were estimated using PLS-SEM.

Findings

This study examined the influence of age on contentment experience and job satisfaction among employees across a range of IT industries and organizations. Results indicated that age was significantly associated with job embeddedness, contentment experience, and job satisfaction. Age was found to be a significant predictor of job embeddedness, with older employees reporting a higher level of job embeddedness than younger employees. Additionally, age was significantly associated with contentment experience and job satisfaction, with older employees reporting higher levels of contentment and job satisfaction than younger employees. These findings suggest that age plays an important role in the job embeddedness, contentment experience, and job satisfaction of employees.

Conclusion

Age was found to moderate the relationship between contentment experience and job satisfaction. The findings of this study suggest that employers should take age into consideration when developing strategies to increase job embeddedness and job satisfaction among their employees.
