Abstract

The objective of the research is to know how the school population is being educated in sustainability and environmental education in order to achieve an ecological world.  The approach used in the research was qualitative. A bibliographic review was carried out using the Science Direct search engine in which the search was performed in an open way by defining the following keywords and Boolean connectors for the search: "Sustainability AND environmental education" and in the advanced search section, in the title, summary and keywords section the word "education" and in the title section the word "environmental". It was concluded that the area of school education is a fundamental protagonist to achieve global sustainable development due to its capacity to generate a high impact of awareness in the young population with respect to consumption patterns. Likewise, the area of energy consumption as a topic of environmental education in the younger population has the greatest potential to achieve substantial and relevant savings in the long term. It is important in school environmental learning to use high-impact tools such as emotional learning through learning by means of practical emotional memory resulting from group activities carried out by the student. Finally, practical activities in general have a high impact on students' memory and learning of environmental knowledge and how to live in an ecological world
