Abstract

This research examines the acoustic behavior of a straightforward expansion chamber muffler for center inlet-center outlet and center inlet-side outlet. The most frequent tool used to muffle sound is the muffler. By using the Transfer Matrix approach, the transmission loss (TL) of a Central inlet - Side outlet silencer is projected for various positions of the outlet. The TL has been examined for both muffler designs with differing output positions and the same volume. It was investigated how the simple expansion chamber muffler's acoustic performance was affected by various side outlet positions. The transmission loss (TL) of a silencer is calculated in this study using the TMM principles. Finally, it is demonstrated that choosing an appropriate muffler design can increase acoustic performance.
